"* Section 1. LEGISLATIVE INTENT. It is the intent of this
Act to increase the flexibility available to the legislature so that
legislative employment will be attractive to individuals who do not
desire coverage under a state retirement system as part of their
compensation package. This Act is not intended to undermine the
compensation levels available to most legislative employees, which,
under AS24.10.060(c), include membership in the public employees'
retirement system."
